How to Play Guess the Time
Guess the Time is a free browser game that tests your sense of time. A hidden timer runs, and you guess how long it lasted. Here's everything you need to know — pick it up in under a minute.
The basic idea
Every round has a secret duration. The timer starts with a 3–2–1 countdown, then runs without showing you the elapsed time. When it stops, you enter your guess in seconds (decimals allowed, like 7.4). The closer your guess, the better your score.
Game modes
⏱️ Stopwatch (solo)
The target is fixed at 10 seconds. You click Start, then click Stop when you think 10 seconds have passed. You'll lose 10 points for every 0.1 seconds you're off, for a score out of 100.
⌨️ Type & Guess (solo)
The timer runs for a random 3–12 seconds and stops on its own. You then type your estimate. This is the best mode for genuinely improving your internal clock, because you can't rely on a memorized rhythm.
👥 Versus (2–10 players)
Enter each player's name, start the round, and pass the device around. Each player privately types a guess after the timer stops. You'll see a ranked leaderboard; the closest player wins. Ties are supported.
🏆 Teams (up to 10 teams × 10 players)
Set up team names and rosters, then start. The game runs one round per player position: in Round 1, Player 1 of every team watches the same hidden timer and types a private guess, and the round winner is announced. Round 2 brings Player 2 of every team with a fresh hidden time — and so on until every player has competed. Each team's score is its members' average absolute error across all rounds; the lowest average wins.
Scoring
- Stopwatch: score out of 100, minus 10 points per 0.1 second of error.
- Type & Guess / Versus / Teams: ranked by absolute error (how far your guess is from the real time, in either direction). Lower is better.
